F1 Rft 2012 Setups learn how to set up your car really well and get the most out of it. We're gathered up here today talking about the different techniques and setups that we use for our cars in the F1 Rft, which is a car rally here in Europe. This is a basic rundown of all of these techniques, so feel free to comment with anything you think would be useful. I'll start off with a description of how to set up your car from the beginning, from the starting line. The goal is to have optimal setup for each stage, which will usually be a different goal depending on what sort of stage it is. On a fast stage you want lots of grip and power with low top-end speed so you can brake later. On a technical one you want good acceleration, so you can get going again as soon as possible. It depends on what sort of stage it is and what your goal is. You can choose to push it to the limit, which you might do on a fast stage, or you could come back with no power so you can finish without risk. That's how it works. So let's start at the beginning. Firstly you will need to check your car before each race day to see whether anything has changed since the last time you raced it. If there are major changes then it is really important that you get this new information from your team before preparing for the rally. The first thing you need to do is to check the tyre pressure and make sure it's set correctly. If it isn't, you won't get traction and your braking will be affected. You should have a pressure gauge on the car so that you can check this before each race day – if not, then just ask your team if they have one that you can use. Next, check your kerbs! You can't just drive into a kerb on a rally – or at least not all of them – so you need to be aware of where the kerb is and what sort of damage it might cause. The best way to check this is to pull out a ruler and measure the distance from the edge of the kerb to your side window, then from that point to the centre of your wheel. Look at this from the side – it should be approximately 1/2 inch wide. If it is more than 1/2 inch wider than that, then you can't use it because it will damage your car. If a kerb has been repaired or has been cut at some point in time, then you might consider avoiding it if possible – for example, if a kerb was damaged but has now been repaired by metalwork.
